Bai Cu Dios Mi Yiu (Go with God, My Child) is a literary memoir and an intimate collection of essays born from a mother's desire to intentionally preserve and pass on her inheritance. Through stories of the people, places and experiences that have shaped her, she traces her understanding of self and explores what it means to belong to a family, a culture and a people.Moving through themes of motherhood, parenthood, relationships, family heritage and those who have become ancestors, the book weaves together personal memories and reflections into a compass of sorts, offering a way to navigate the complexities of identity, belonging and the generations that came before us. Addressing her daughter in each chapter as the intended recipient of these stories, she not only passes on a record of lessons learned, questions explored and memories gathered along the way, but also creates the space for an imagined conversation with her daughter. In doing so, she leaves behind a map of sorts, not of where to go, but of what to carry along.
